The short version
- Your guest list never leaves your device. Names, meals, allergies and seating are stored only in your browser. We can't see them.
- If you buy, Gumroad handles checkout and shares your name, email and order details with us so we can deliver and support your license.
- We use cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. No advertising, no cross-site tracking, and we never sell your information.

1. Who we are
Placed & Plated is operated by Matthew Piazza, a sole proprietor doing business as "Placed & Plated" ("we", "us"), based in Massachusetts, USA. This policy explains what information is handled when you use placedandplated.com and the Placed & Plated app (the "Service"), and your choices about it.
2. The guest information you enter stays on your device
The planning app runs entirely in your web browser. Everything you enter, including guest names, relationship tags, table assignments, meal choices, dietary and allergy notes, event names, dates, venue details and any venue map image, is processed and stored only on your device, in your browser's local storage.
- This information is never sent to us or to any of our service providers, and we have no way to view it.
- PDFs, CSV files and project backup files are generated in your browser and saved directly to your device.
- Because allergies can be health-related information, we've designed the Service so this data never leaves your device.
You control this information: it stays until you delete it (see section 8).
3. Information that is collected
When you buy a license
Checkout is handled by Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record. Gumroad collects your payment details, which we never see or store. As the seller, we receive your name, email address, purchase details, country and license key. We use these to deliver your license, verify it, provide support, process refunds and keep business and tax records.
When you activate or use a license key
When you enter a license key, and occasionally when the app opens afterward, the app sends the license key and our product ID to Gumroad to confirm the purchase is valid and hasn't been refunded. Gumroad records these checks as part of the purchase. The key is also saved in your browser's local storage so you stay unlocked.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and use it only to reply and help you.
When you visit the website
- Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful. It does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other websites. It reports aggregate information such as pages viewed, referring site, browser, device type and country.
- Hosting and security. Our site is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Fonts and code libraries. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts and code libraries from Cloudflare's cdnjs. To deliver these files, those services receive your IP address and basic browser information.
We don't use advertising trackers, social-media pixels or any cross-site tracking.
4. Service providers
We rely on these companies to run the Service. Each processes information under its own privacy policy:

5. Cookies and local storage
We don't set any cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage, which stays on your device, to remember:
- your plan (guests, tables, meals, event details and settings);
- your license key, once activated;
- your design preferences, such as palette and typeface.
Gumroad may set its own cookies when you open the checkout, and Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site from bots and abuse.
6. How we use information
We use the information described in section 3 only to:
- deliver, verify and support your license, and process refunds;
- answer your questions;
- understand overall site usage so we can improve the Service;
- keep the site secure; and
- meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We don't send marketing emails unless you've asked to hear from us, and you can opt out at any time.
7. We don't sell your information
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for targeted or cross-context advertising. We share it only with the service providers above, to run the Service, or when required by law.
8. How long information is kept
- Your plan and license key in your browser: until you delete them. Clearing your browser's site data for placedandplated.com removes them. Save a backup file first if you want to keep your plan.
- Purchase records: as long as needed to support your license and to meet tax and accounting obligations.
- Emails: until your question is resolved and for a reasonable period afterward, generally no more than two years.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you (your purchase record and emails), or ask how it's used, by emailing hello@placedandplated.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Some records must be kept for tax purposes, and deleting a purchase record may deactivate the license.
Depending on where you live, including California, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights, such as the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. We honor these requests regardless of where you live, and we won't treat you differently for making one.
10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We don't track you across other websites and don't sell or share personal information for advertising, so there's no such tracking for "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals to switch off. Our practices are the same whether or not your browser sends them.
11. Children
The Service isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
12. Security and international transfers
The site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections, and our providers use industry-standard security. Because your guest list is stored on your own device, keeping that device and browser secure also protects your plan.
We're based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, they use recognized safeguards for international transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll make it prominent on the site.
