Terms of Use

Last updated: September 30, 2026

The short version

This summary is for convenience; the full terms below are what apply.

1. Who we are and agreeing to these terms

Placed & Plated (the "Service") is operated by Matthew Piazza, a sole proprietor doing business as "Placed & Plated" ("we", "us"). These Terms of Use cover the website at placedandplated.com and the Placed & Plated planning app.

By using the Service, you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to buy a license.

2. What the Service does

Placed & Plated helps you plan seating and catering for an event: entering guests, arranging tables, recording meal choices and dietary notes, and producing printable documents such as floor plans, place cards, escort cards, a seating chart and a catering pack.

The Service runs in your web browser. The guest information you enter (names, tags, meals, allergies and seating) is processed and stored on your own device and is not sent to us. See the Privacy Policy for details.

3. Free use and the premium license

Core planning features are free. A one-time purchase provides a license key that unlocks premium features, such as additional exports, color palettes and typefaces.

4. Payments

Purchases are processed by Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment, receipts and applicable sales taxes. Your purchase is also subject to Gumroad's terms. We never receive or store your card details.

5. 7-day money-back guarantee

If you're not happy with your purchase for any reason, email hello@placedandplated.com within 7 days of purchase and we'll give you a full refund, no questions asked. Please include the email address you used at checkout.

Refunds are issued to your original payment method through Gumroad, and the license key is deactivated once the refund is processed. After 7 days, sales are final, except where the law where you live gives you additional rights.

6. Your data and backups

Your plan is saved automatically in your browser's local storage. That storage belongs to your browser, not to us, which means:

You're responsible for keeping backups. Use File → Save project file regularly, especially before your event.

7. Meals, allergies and your event

The Service records and prints the meal choices and dietary or allergy notes exactly as you enter them. It does not verify them, and it is not a food-safety, medical or allergy-management tool.

You're responsible for confirming every meal and allergy directly with your guests and your caterer or venue. Please review all printed materials, including seat assignments, names and dietary details, before your event.

8. Acceptable use

Please don't misuse the Service. In particular, don't:

The guest lists you enter are yours. You're responsible for having permission to use your guests' information for planning your event.

9. Ownership

We own the Service, including its design, code and the Placed & Plated name and branding. You own the content you enter and the documents you create with it, and you may print and use those documents for your events.

The Service includes third-party open-source software and fonts used under their own licenses.

10. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that seating arrangements or printed output will be free of mistakes, or that your data will not be lost.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or any issue arising at or from your event. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing.

Some places don't allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that cannot be waived under applicable consumer-protection law.

12. Changes and ending use

We may update the Service and these terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page; continuing to use the Service afterward means you accept the updated terms. You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend access for anyone who violates these terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Bristol County, Massachusetts, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
